Looking back at my AS media work i can see my knowledge and understanding of all the media aspects (terminology, use of equipment, camera and iMovie techniques and skills) greatly improved throughout the years course, resulting in our 'main task' which we were very pleased with.
We had many ideas for our main task which at the start we thought was really good, however it took us a long time to narrow our ideas down which delayed us in carrying out research. This has taught me that for my A2 piece we should pick an idea at the start, stick to it and elaborate on it making it better, rather than completely changing and starting our plans over numerous of times. This will enable us to do more detailed research into our chosen task as we will have more time.
I feel we prepared well for our main task in terms of the filming and planning. We put together a PowerPoint presentation and a storyboard. We took photos of locations and posted short videos of our ideas, we tried to update these frequently with our new ideas. We filmed in enough time to film again if we weren't happy with it, luckily this didn't happen. We filmed lots of extra footage that we thought we wouldn't necessarily need but it definitely helped when editing the film together as the extra clips were used to help with the continuity. Its better to film more than you think you may need than to have less, and this is something we will do again when filming for A2.
At the end of last years course i feel that the last part of my blog was rushed. I don't think i realised how much evaluating there was to be done and therefore left it to the last minute. Although we had deadlines i sometimes failed to meet this which led me to have to rush everything on the last day. This year i will be more organised in terms of getting everything on my blog done ASAP, and not leaving work unfinished (I did that a lot last year which meant i had to go back and finish it at the end) Last year i did a lot of research into opening scenes but i didn't always post it on my blog to show this which i know is essential. This year i will definitely put more time into writing about the research i have conducted.
Last year we were all given a role-i was the actress, Kona- director. Although we all helped each other we mainly stuck to our roles. This year i would defiantly like to do some filming as i was least involved with this last year. I think filming is my weakest aspect and therefore i would like to gain more experience using the camera throughout this year. I researched a lot about filming and camera angles at the start of last year which i will use to help, and also, filming short clips for this years tasks will enable me to practise and get more confident.
